The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has uncovered a Rs 300 crore illegal granite mining scam involving mining firms linked to BRS MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy of Pathancheru and his brother Madhusudhan Reddy. Searches were conducted by the ED officials at his house for two days. The raids reportedly followed purchase of a car worth Rs 3 crore. The investigation revealed that the firm, M/s Santhosh Sand & Granite Supply owned by the accused , illegally excavated and transported excess quantities of building stone and road metal within the quarry lease permitted area. Additionally, they excavated material beyond the permitted area on encroached government land. As a result, they amassed around Rs 300 crore through the sale of illegally excavated material and evaded royalty payments of Rs. 39.08 crore due to the government. The ED also found that the proceeds of crime were laundered through real estate and other activities
