Rats will not harm people. But they impact the lives of people so much that the city of New York has found itself in deep trouble because of the menace. New York City Mayor Eric Adams sought to engage the ratcatcher to address the menace. The mayor invited applications for the job of controlling rats. The person spearheading the project is designated as the director of rodent mitigation. So far, 900 people have signed up for the job that will pay $120,000 to $170,000 a year. New York City Mayor Eric Adams has appointed Kathleen Corradi as the city’s first-ever citywide director of rodent mitigation. She is also known as the ‘rat czar.  A school teacher by profession, she has finally been entrusted with the task. She had for quite some time been studying the issue and knows the way the menace can be addressed. Rats are not native to North America, but have been present in New York since the 1700s. The city’s rat population is dominated by the Norway rat, a brown rat native to China, but spread around the globe by Norwegian sailing ships.
