Amaravathi: Raising concern over the disappearance of 30,000 girls in the state during last five years, AP Deputy Chief Minister, Pawan Kalyan said “I have repeatedly called for strong enforcement of law and order, but it seems that the authorities have become accustomed to ignoring it. During his visit to his Pithapuram constituency, he warned that he would be forced to shoulder the responsibilities of home, if the police failed to act sternly. Pawan Kalyan firmly declared that criminals have no caste or religion and questioned how many times this needs to be explained to police officers. “If someone rapes and murders a three-year-old girl, will you bring caste into it? The officers are educated, aren’t they? What does the Indian Penal Code say?” he asked, expressing frustration over leniency towards criminals. He also warned against bringing up caste and religion as excuses for not arresting offenders. “Does the Penal Code say that criminals should be protected based on caste or religion? Don’t stretch this matter any further,” he cautioned.

Home Minister Must Take Responsibility

Pawan Kalyan emphasized that while the government is patient, it also has its limits. He mentioned that as part of the government, they have been maintaining restraint, but if things do not improve, stricter action will follow. He urged officials to focus on protecting law and order and warned against shielding wrongdoers under any pretext, even if they are close relatives. “I am telling Home Minister Anitha as well, you must take responsibility as the Home Minister,” Pawan Kalyan said. He also added, “If I were to take charge of the Home Ministry, the situation would be very different.” In a final warning, Pawan Kalyan said, “All those criticizing us should understand that if the situation continues, I will be forced to assume the role of Home Minister. Mark my words.” He questioned the purpose of having politicians and MLAs in positions of power if they lack the courage to act and hold criminals accountable.
