Indian President Droupadi Murmu has addressed the issue of exam paper leaks, emphasizing the government’s commitment to taking strict action against those responsible. She highlighted that the government is working on major reforms to ensure transparency and fairness in competitive and government recruitment exams. Additionally, new legislation, the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, has been introduced. This law imposes severe penalties, including fines up to ₹1 crore and jail terms of up to 10 years, for those involved in exam irregularities. It’s clear that the government is taking significant steps to address this issue. The Centre too has resolved to act on NEET paper leak concerns. In the backdrop of the exam paper leak controversies, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is also set to bring in a law against paper leaks.
