Vikarabad: In an unprecedented move, internet services were suspended in several mandals of Vikarabad district as police launched a major operation in Lagicherla village. The operation targeted BRS activists and their supporters who were allegedly involved in an attack on a team of officials led by Vikarabad District Collector Prateek Jain on Monday. The attack occurred when villagers, protesting against the government’s plan to acquire their land for a pharma village project, pelted stones at the government vehicles in the Collector’s convoy, causing significant damage. The villagers’ anger was palpable as they demanded the government reconsider the land acquisition. To control the situation, over 300 police personnel cordoned off the village, preventing media access and maintaining a tight perimeter.
