The 66th Miss South Africa 2024 pageant historic as Mia le Roux has become the first deaf woman to win the title. She uses a cochlear implant and has overcome significant challenges to achieve this milestone. Mia’s victory is a testament to her resilience and dedication. She will represent South Africa at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant. It’s inspiring to see how she has broken barriers and set a new precedent in the pageant world.
Born in Sasolburg, Free State, South Africa, in 1996, she was diagnosed with profound hearing loss at the age of one and has used a cochlear implant since she was two years old. Despite her hearing impairment, Mia has excelled in various fields. She grew up in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, and attended Oudtshoorn High School. She later earned a nutrition certificate from the Sport Science Institute of South Africa and an exercise specialist diploma from Eta College. Currently, she is a part-time BCom Marketing student at the University of South Africa and works as a marketing manager while also modelling part-time. Mia’s journey in pageantry began with local titles such as Miss Struisie and Miss Garden Route. She also made it to the Top 5 of Miss Deaf South Africa.
