Mulugu tribe sulks, shuts Doors on Government Survey

Mulugu:  The tribal families of Ailapuram village in Kannaigudem revenue mandal, Mulugu district, have closed their doors to officials conducting the state’s integrated family survey. The villagers’ boycott stems from a long history of neglect in the provision of basic civic amenities and benefits under various state-sponsored programmes. Villagers highlighted the lack of a proper road and the failure to energize bore wells dug seven years ago. Despite funds being sanctioned for a 10- km road connecting the village, the project remains pending due to the need for forest department clearance. Former Sarpanch Mallela Lakshmaiah noted that past surveys have failed to improve their living conditions. Even the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), tasked with tribal development, has lost focus on Ailapuram’s issues. The villagers expressed their frustration, stating that they need committed officials like A Vidyasagar, a retired IAS officer known for transforming numerous tribal hamlets in the region, to bring about meaningful change in their lives. This boycott is a call for attention to the long-standing neglect and a demand for tangible improvements in their living conditions.
