A protest by Khalistani extremists near the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton escalated into violence over the weekend, with reports of temple attendees being attacked. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation from political leaders across Canada, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who strongly denounced the violence.

Despite no arrests being made in connection to the attack, Peel Regional Police maintained a strong presence at the scene, with dozens of officers stationed outside the temple on Sunday. Prime Minister Trudeau took to social media to condemn the incident, stating, “The acts of violence at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton are unacceptable. Every Canadian has the right to practice their faith freely and safely. Thank you to the Peel Regional Police for swiftly responding to protect the community and investigate this incident.”

Canadian Member of Parliament Chandra Arya also voiced his outrage, calling the attack a significant escalation in violent extremism. In a statement on social media, Arya said, “A red line has been crossed by Canadian Khalistani extremists today. The attack on Hindu-Canadian devotees inside the premises of the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton shows how deep and brazen Khalistani violent extremism has become in Canada.”

Arya further expressed concerns about the growing influence of Khalistani extremists, suggesting that their reach may extend into Canadian law enforcement agencies. “I begin to feel that there is a small grain of truth in the reports that, in addition to the Canadian political apparatus, Khalistanis have effectively infiltrated our law enforcement agencies,” Arya wrote.

The violent incident has heightened tensions.
