It is indeed a heartwarming story! Just like humans, dogs have different blood types, and their donations can be crucial in emergency situations.
Ever heard a dog becoming a lifesaving blood donor? A pet dog of Doberman breed, named Krish has turned blood donor. It gave a fresh lease of life for a Labrador that was in a critical condition in Koppal town of Karnataka. On the advice of the veterinarian, 300 ml of blood was collected after due tests from the Doberman and it was used to help the Labrador that was facing issues of low hemoglobin and anaemia. The efforts paid results in reviving the dog that was critically ill, thanks to the initiative of the veterinarian, Baswaraj Pujar. It is indeed a heartwarming story! Just like humans, dogs have different blood types, and their donations can be crucial in emergency situations. A single donation can be separated into components like red blood cells and plasma, which can help multiple dogs. It is time to think of veterinary blood banks. Some animal hospitals in India already have facilities where healthy dogs can donate blood. This blood can be used for surgeries, trauma cases, and treating various illnesses. Typically, donor dogs need to be healthy, of a certain age and weight, and have a calm temperament. The process is safe and usually quick, and it can make a huge difference in saving another dog’s life.
