Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently embarked on a spiritual sojourn at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. He has been on a 45-hour meditation journey since Thursday at the Dhyan Mandapam, the same spot where philosopher Swami Vivekananda meditated in 1892.  Swami Vivekananda had meditated there to gain a clear vision of India’s future. During his meditation, PM Modi performed the ‘Surya Arghya’ ritual during sunrise.

The choice of Kanyakumari for this spiritual practice signifies national unity, as it is the meeting point of the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and the Arabian Sea.

The Prime Minister is following a simple liquid diet of fruit juice, tender coconut water, and milk during his meditation. He stayed at the rock memorial, sleeping on the floor of the hall. The breathtaking views of the sea surrounding the memorial provided a serene backdrop for his contemplation.

The Congress Party leadership submitted a complaint to the Election Commission of India (ECI), demanding that the broadcast of the PM on meditation be banned, keeping in mind the rules under the Model Code of Conduct for the elections.
