New Delhi is experiencing a deadly heatwave, with temperatures touching 52.3 degrees Celsius (126.1 Fahrenheit) today ( May 29, 2024) , which is the highest-ever recorded temperature for the national capital. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed this record-breaking temperature at the Mungeshpur station. Authorities issued severe heat wave warnings and urged residents to conserve water due to the unprecedented temperatures. Climate change is contributing to longer, more frequent, and more intense heat waves in India, making water scarcity a critical concern in cities like Delhi. People are advised to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions during such extreme weather conditions. According to Kuldeep Srivastava, regional head of India Meteorological Department (IMD), high temperature in Delhi broke record because of hot winds from Rajasthan.
