A day before the scheduled counting of votes for the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, the naxalites of the CPI (Maoist) struck terror in the forest villages in Barsoor police station limits by triggering a major blast. Two members of a CRPF party combing the area received serious injuries in the incident. The naxalites were suspected to have planted an improvised explosive device (IED) as part of their plot to ambush the police. The outlawed extremist group had put up banners in the forest route in a big way, calling for boycotting the polls two weeks ago. The injured Jawans were shifted to Dantewada Hospital, and they are said to be out of danger.
